Q. I have a Remington, Model 12 rifle. It is a .22-caliber rifle with a 22-inch barrel. I believe it dates back to the 1920s or 1930s. My brother and I were talking about how much it originally sold for. Did Sears ever sell this rifle? If so, how much did it originally sell for?
A. Remington is an enormously popular name in firearms, and Sears sold the Remington brand for many years during the early 1900s. Because you gave us an estimated date range and a description of the rifle, we were able to find it in the spring 1919 Chicago edition catalog on page 943. The 22-inch barrel gun was sold as the "Standard Grade." The catalog also offered a "Target Grade," with a 24-inch barrel. The two rifles sold for $18.20 and $20.20, respectively.
